Dear Graduates and Parents/Guardians,
What a year!
First, we want to congratulate you on the tremendous effort you are putting forward as you work to complete your Grade 12 credits for your Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Who would have thought a few short weeks ago, that this is how you would be completing assignments and handing in course work. But you are demonstrating your resilience and a tremendous ability to adapt to change in the most trying circumstances. These are important skills that you will carry with you in life.
We are writing today to deliver some news that we had hoped we could avoid; however, it has become increasingly obvious that we cannot. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will not be possible to hold graduation ceremonies this June for the Class of 2020. For now, protecting the health and wellbeing of each of us remains our first priority.
We know how disappointing this news will be. Graduation ceremonies are among the greatest milestone events in our lives. However, this pandemic will not last forever. We are hopeful that there will be an opportunity to celebrate your success with graduation ceremonies this Fall and we promise that they will be filled with all of the joy and hope for the future that these momentous events celebrate each year.
We will communicate further details as they are finalized.
In the meantime, you have our very best wishes along with our prayers that you will be richly blessed with God’s goodness and His provision for a bright future. We look forward to welcoming you back home in the Fall when we hope to celebrate your success as a graduate of the Class of 2020!
Sincerely,
Deb Crawford | Director of Education
John Van Heck | Chair of the Board
Scott Johnson | Superintendent of Education
