September Ready Project Update #2

You can be assured that the September Ready safe return to school plan is on target. Our pledge to you is that 2020-2021 will be a school year of excellence in Catholic education for our students and staff with safety and wellness as our top priorities. We continue to plan for three possible options as outlined by the Ministry of Education last June, with final direction coming from the Ministry and public health in August.

One of the key areas of planning for the September Ready safe return to school project is in Academic Operations. This planning area is being led by a team of experienced principals at both the elementary and secondary level.

More than 50 key areas in Academic Operations were identified during our risk assessments, following extensive consultations with system leaders and our staff union and association partners. These important considerations have been organized into six planning tasks. The team’s assignment is to dig into each of these key areas to find workable solutions.

Some of the key considerations include:

In each and every one of these identified areas, the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our first priority. We continue to work with the Medical Officers of Health for Lambton and Chatham-Kent, as we develop and refine our September Ready safe return to school plan. We also continue to work in collaboration with our coterminous school boards and take direction from the Ministry of Education, as we move forward.

In the meantime, we are committed to bring you regular updates, throughout the summer.
