St. Clair Catholic Schools Celebrate Bus Driver Appreciation Day

Schools across the St. Clair Catholic district celebrated Bus Driver Appreciation Day, with gifts, thank you messages and warm wishes!

“We know the important work that our bus drivers carry out every day, transporting students to and from school,” says Deb Crawford.  “On behalf of our students, families, our staff and our Board, we want to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for a job well done!  We appreciate you!”

Schools all across the district expressed their thanks and their love for their bus drivers in a variety of ways.  At St. John Fisher Catholic School in Forest, classes were invited to create ‘thank you’ posters which hung on a fence adjacent to where the buses pick-up and drop off students.

At St. Michael in Ridgetown, special gift bags containing treats were presented to the bus drivers. At St. Michael in Bright’s Grove, drivers were given personalized cards, gift bags with candy and hand soap with the slogan, “Hands down – you’re the best driver around!”

“This annual observance is a great opportunity for each of us to pause and reflect on the importance of school bus safety as well as recognizing the diligent work of our school bus drivers and operators, especially during these challenging pandemic times,” says Kent Orr, General Manager of CLASS, the consortium which manages transportation for the St. Clair Catholic and Lambton Kent District School Boards.

It was also National School Bus Safety Week, a public education program that is observed throughout North America during the third full week of October each year.
