Take Our Kids to Work Day Goes Virtual This Year

The annual Take Our Kids to Work Day for our grade nine students will look a little different this year.  The Learning Partnership, powered by RBC Future Launch, is virtual and will offer pre-recorded and live virtual events for teachers and students on November 4, 2020 to inspire an exciting, engaging day of career exploration.

Take Our Kids to Work Day is Canada’s most recognized career exploration event, providing students with opportunities to experience the world of work, and engaging students, educators, parents and workplaces in career exploration, planning and decision-making. In order to keep students safe, the event will be virtual as most businesses would not be able to host a student in person.

The day will begin with a pre-recorded message titled Your Future, Now – an inspiring, 20-minute pre-recorded event where students will hear from a range of workplaces and professionals, who will share messages of hope and resilience and bring to life the real-world skills that have led to their success.

The day continues with four breakout sessions, led by business leaders across a range of roles and sectors.  During these dynamic 20-minute sessions, students can engage with others across Canada to explore career options in skilled trades, healthcare, innovation & entrepreneurship, and technology & finance.  Teacher resources will help continue the conversation after each session.

Career exploration is an important part of secondary school and we recognize this day as an important part of pathways planning.  We thank all of our partners for their contributions to what we know will be an exciting and dynamic day of learning.
