Homecoming at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School Goes Online

Where there’s a will there’s a way … and at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School the COVID-19 pandemic is not stopping the annual Homecoming celebration.  It’s just going virtual.  Instead of football games and assemblies, Homecoming 2020 is all about an online video game tournament, thanks to the creativity of some Grade 11 students.

The event has been organized by teacher Robert Walicki’s technology and computer studies class.

Grade 11 Communications Technology students have organized a school-wide virtual Homecoming for 2020.

“It’s amazing,” says Mr. Walicki.  “They have created an event that has a little bit of something for everyone!”

In addition to e-sports games, there are also school-wide competitions for a logo design, photography, talent competition videos and a contest for who will sing ‘O Canada’ for the Homecoming finale. In keeping with the school’s commitment to give back to the community, there’s also a button on the page at https://sites.google.com/view/sphsesports/home for anyone who wishes to contribute to the local Terry Fox campaign.
