Important Letter from the Director of Education – Extension of Teacher-led Online Learning to January 25, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,

The government of Ontario has announced the extension of teacher-led online learning for elementary school students until January 25, 2021, due to the continued rise in COVID-19 cases across the province.  This aligns with the return to in-person learning for secondary school students, which was previously announced.

For more information from the Government of Ontario, go to the following link:

I want to thank our teachers, support staff and school administration for their great work during these first days since the return to learning, following the Christmas break.  Their commitment to learning in the virtual environment has been outstanding.  Although learning online presents its challenges for staff, students and families alike, our goal remains to provide an excellent Catholic education for our students.  Resources are available to assist parents on The Parent Learning Hub on the Board website at: https://hub.sccdsb.net/

St. Clair Catholic is also committed to supporting the mental health of students, families and staff.  Students or caregivers seeking immediate mental health supports can text 226-402-1593; or visit the Mental Health and Wellbeing web page on the Board website at: https://www.st-clair.net/mental-health-home.aspx

St. Clair Catholic counsellors work collaboratively with families to respond to student needs for counselling.  Students, parents/guardians and caregivers can either be referred by a classroom teacher or self refer.  The self referral form can be found at https://forms.gle/nb3kDmHje4ATYSYA7  Individuals who submit the form will receive a call within 72 hours.

For further information on mental health and wellbeing supports from St. Clair Catholic, contact Christine Preece, the Board’s Mental Health Lead chris.preece@st-clair.net

It’s vital that we continue to follow the advice of our public health professionals, so that we can all stay safe and healthy.  While it’s important that we remain physically distanced from each other, we must stay connected; and at the same time let’s draw nearer to God, as we pray for ourselves and each other.

God’s blessings and stay well.

Deb Crawford
Director of Education
