Gregory A. Hogan Students Have Virtual Visit with Toronto Blue Jays

There was lots of excitement in Jamie Laing’s Grade 4 French Immersion class at Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School this week, when students had a virtual visit with a couple baseball players from the Toronto Blue Jays.

“I entered a contest and won the virtual class visit,” says Ms. Laing.  “I am overjoyed by the exciting and positive experience for my students.  It was so much fun to see their smiling faces throughout the event!”

The students were impressed that they got to meet pitchers Nate Pearson and Jacob Waguespack.  Ms. Laing asked the class to share some of their thoughts about the experience.

“It was really cool to meet Nate Pearson and Jacob Waguespack!” says Everett.  “They were super cool and I think it was really nice that they took the time to meet with us.”

“It was so much fun!” says Liam.  “I miss playing baseball so much right now, so being able to do this was awesome.”

In addition to the star players, students were led through some physical activities and baseball skill development by another member of the Blue Jays organization.  Ace, the team mascot, also made an appearance.

“It was wonderful to see the pure joy on the students’ faces as they ran through the drills, exercises.  They even danced before having some time to ask the players questions,” says Daniela Mezzatesta, Principal of Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School.  “I know this experience will live on in the students’ memories for years to come!”
