The St. Clair Catholic District School Board, Lambton Kent District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique Providence and Conseil scolaire Viamonde, in partnership with Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CKLASS), will be launching the voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing for students and school staff on Sunday, March 21 at Ursuline College Chatham Catholic Secondary School (85 Grand Avenue West, Chatham) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The schedule for further locations and dates for on-site testing in Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent will be here.
In a further effort to combat the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, the Ministry of Education has directed that voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing of students and staff will be conducted in Ontario schools. The testing is also available to children and staff from childcare centres located inside schools, as well as school bus drivers.
The four school boards are taking a community approach and partnering to run asymptomatic testing, including sharing facilities and providing families with open access to locations regardless of the school board students attend.
The voluntary asymptomatic testing will be conducted by LifeLabs, the vendor contracted by the Ministry of Education and coordinated by CKLASS. Parent/guardian consent is required.
The following schools and associated child care locations will be invited to participate in the March 21 voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing:
- Ursuline College Chatham Catholic Secondary School (also the testing location)
- Tecumseh Public School & Growing Together Family Resource Centre
- Monsignor Uyen Catholic School & YMCA Child Care (including Our Lady of Fatima site)
- Ecole elementaire catholique Sainte-Marie & Tilbury Tots
In addition, all eligible students, staff and children in child care centres in other Chatham-Kent schools of the four participating school boards are also welcome to attend for voluntary testing. Please remember to wear a face mask and bring your child’s health card. Specific information for families will be provided directly by schools.
