The Board of Trustees has expressed its thanks and appreciation for Student Trustees Mia Abate and Lucas Rupert. Mia, a student at St. Patrick’s has represented the students of Sarnia and Lambton County; and Lucas, a student at Ursuline College Chatham, has been the representative of Chatham-Kent students through the 2020-2021 school year.
In thanking the student trustees for their contributions at the Board table this year, Chair of the Board John Van Heck noted the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think it’s fair to say that never before have Student Trustees met and overcome the challenges that you have faced, in bringing your monthly reports to the Board table,” said Mr. Van Heck.
“We all know that the COVID-19 pandemic has made even the simplest tasks more difficult. Yet throughout this year, you have connected with students and staff faithfully and regularly, so that you could update us at each Board meeting to report on the accomplishments, successes – and yes, the challenges – at your schools. Your informative and creative reports were greatly appreciated.”
The last Regular Board Meeting for Mia and Lucas will be in June.
In March, the Board appointed Grace McCormack of St. Patrick’s Catholic High School and Owen Malott-Bennett of UCC to serve as Student Trustees for the 2021-2022 term. Their first Board meeting will be in August 2021.
