Beginning on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board will lower all flags at schools and the Catholic Education Centre to half-mast to recognize the tragic loss in the London Muslim community. We pray for the victims of this unspeakable crime, and the family members and friends who are left to grieve the loss of those killed or injured. May God grant His peace and comfort to all those who are affected by this act of violence. The St. Clair Catholic District School Board stands with all Canadians who condemn all forms of racism and support religious and cultural freedoms.
On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at sundown, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board will conclude nine days of having flags lowered to half-mast in solemn observance of the tragedy at the Kamloops Residential School, representing one hour for each of the 215 Indigenous children, whose remains were found in an unmarked grave at the school. We continue to pray for the families affected by this failure, and for all members of Canada’s Indigenous communities. At St. Clair Catholic, we continue our pledge to honour and live the spirit of reconciliation through education.
