Upcoming Vaccination Clinics at Chatham-Kent Schools

The information below is provided by Chatham-Kent Public Health…

Dear Parents/Guardians:

CK Public Health, in partnership with local schools, is offering COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine clinics at a number of Chatham-Kent schools throughout September.

COVID-19 vaccines are now available to everyone born in 2009 or earlier. The vaccine is safe, effective, and our best tool to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on the 2021-22 school year. Right now, with the Delta variant being the prominent strain in Ontario, vaccination is more important than ever. COVID-19 infection can have serious impacts for all age groups, including young people, and the vaccination rates for Chatham-Kent’s youth are still the lowest in the province.

We know that summer can be busy. For your convenience, several upcoming clinics take place at schools across the municipality and feature a time slot solely for students and their eligible family members. These clinics also offer you the option to book an appointment online at GetYourShotCK.ca or walk-in at a time that works for you.

Upcoming clinics include:

·         Thursday, September 9, 2021 – Tilbury District High School

·         Friday, September 10, 2021 – John McGregor Secondary School

·         Monday, September 13, 2021 – École secondaire catholique de Pain Court

·         Wednesday, September 15, 2021 – Ursuline College Chatham

·         Friday, September 17, 2021Ridgetown District High School

·         Tuesday, September 21, 2021 – Blenheim District High School

·         Wednesday, September 22, 2021 – Lambton Kent Composite School

·         Thursday, September 23, 2021 – Chatham-Kent Secondary School

·         Friday, September 24, 2021 –  Wallaceburg District Secondary School

Most clinics will be open to students and their families from 2:30 p.m. 3:00 p.m. and open to the public from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Those clinics listed in bold will be open to students and their families from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and open to the public from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All clinics will be offering the Pfizer vaccine. To receive the COVID-19 vaccine, youth or the parent/guardian must provide consent. If you are providing consent, it means that you understand what the vaccination involves, why it is being recommended, and the risks and benefits of receiving or refusing the vaccine. We encourage you to have this conversation with your child.

For more information related to youth and the COVID-19 vaccines, please visit the CK Public Health Youth Resources page. If you have questions about the vaccine, call CK Public Health at 519.355.1071 x 1900 or talk to your family doctor.

As we start a new school year, vaccination is one way that we can all do our part to keep our school communities safe.
