Christmas in Muskoka Postponed for 2021

The organizing committee for Christmas in Muskoka and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board have announced that the annual Christmas charity event has been postponed for 2021.

“With the ongoing uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the risks associated with large indoor gatherings we believe our only option at this point is to postpone the event again this year,” says Gerri Brown, Co-Chair of the Christmas in Muskoka Committee.

“We are thankful for the support of our generous corporate sponsors, including TekSavvy, Chatham Breakfast Grille, Tepperman’s, the Ridge Landfill Community Trust, Glasshouse Nursery & Garden Centre, McDonald’s, Dajcor Aluminum, the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham, To Suit Your Fancy, Heritage Savings & Credit Union and 99.1 CKXS-FM,” says Shawn Moynihan, Co-Chair of the Christmas in Muskoka Committee.  “We look forward to connecting with these tremendous sponsors again in 2022.”

In nine years, approximately $800,000 has been raised for Grade 7 Catholic elementary school students and the student leadership team from Ursuline College.  More than 3,500 students have received financial support to attend a four-day outdoor learning experience at the Muskoka Leadership Camp on Lake Rosseau.

At past events, 40 designer Christmas trees have been raffled off each year.  The trees are provided by local businesses and organizations, and one from each of the Catholic schools in Chatham-Kent.  The event has become a Christmas-time tradition in Chatham-Kent and has received tremendous support from the community.

“Christmas in Muskoka has brought our Catholic schools and the Chatham-Kent community together at one of the most important times of the year,” says Scott Johnson, Director of Education for St. Clair Catholic.  “We are grateful for the support this event provides for hundreds of students to participate in an outstanding educational experience.

Mark your calendar for next year.  Christmas in Muskoka returns to the Bradley Centre in Chatham from Tuesday, November 15, 2022, to Saturday, November 19, 2022.
