Louis Riel Day – November 16, 2021

Louis Riel Day is held every year on Nov 16. Louis Riel is a significant historical figure, who was unjustly executed.  He made important political gains for the Métis people through the establishment of a Provisional Government in Manitoba. His success in negotiating Manitoba into Confederation and the protection of minority language rights laid the groundwork for his vision of a Canada that included the Métis Nation and protected Métis rights.

This year, St. Clair Catholic is hosting a session with Métis author, Rebekah Wilson.  Classrooms have the opportunity to connect and learn more about Métis culture and history.  For more information and for learning resources visit this page.
