Return to School Delayed Until Wednesday, January 5, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Ontario government announced today that the return to learning for all publicly-funded schools has been delayed until Wednesday, January 5, 2022.  This includes in-person classroom learning for elementary and secondary schools, and online learning in the Remote Learning schools of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.  As a result of the delay, there will be no instruction for students registered in St. Clair Catholic schools on January 3 and 4.

This decision is in response to the highly transmissible Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.  As has been the case since the beginning of the pandemic, the health and safety of all students and staff is the Board’s first priority.  St. Clair Catholic continues to follow the advice and direction of our local public health partners and the Ontario government.  Please note the following important changes in health guidance, when school resumes on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

  • The daily COVID-19 School Screening Assessment tool has been updated. Please continue to complete and follow the directions of the daily COVID-19 school and child care screening for each child in the household who is attending school.
  • Beginning Wednesday, January 5, 2022 secondary school students and parents/guardians of elementary students will be required to confirm each day that the daily school screening assessment has been completed.  Please follow the instructions provided by your school.

Guidance from public health and the Ontario government can change rapidly, as circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic continue to evolve.  St. Clair Catholic will provide updates as they become available.
