United Way Chatham-Kent has donated several boxes of hygiene products to the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
“Thank you to United Way Chatham-Kent for this donation, which will assist the Board as it works to erase barriers for students to access products, as part of its menstrual equity program,” says Amy Janssens, Associate Director – Corporate Services & Treasurer.”
The menstrual equity program was launched in September 2019. Next month, products will be available in dispensers marked ‘free’ in all female and universal/accessible washrooms in all schools and Board facilities. Posters and stickers advising of the availability of the products will also be displayed in buildings across the system.
The Ontario Ministry of Education has accepted a three-year donation of menstrual products from Shoppers Drug Mart Incorporated. As products arrive, they will be distributed to all Board locations.
The United Way CK donation will also be distributed to schools across the district. Student feedback regarding the program will be gathered through school wellness committees and student leadership teams, throughout the 2022-2023 school year.
