The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has appointed two students to the position of Student Trustee for the 2022-2023 term. They are:
- Samantha Lozon – a Grade 11 student at Ursuline College Chatham Catholic Secondary School
- Annabelle Rayson – a Grade 11 student at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School, Sarnia
Samantha Lozon
Samantha is a well-respected, articulate and intelligent Grade 11 student, who is passionate about learning. She places a high priority on academics, which has earned her a spot on the Honour Roll, as well as Proficiency Award recognition in Grade 9 and Grade 10. She enjoys math and science and is hoping to pursue a career in the medical field post-secondary. Samantha is also a keen competitor and has played numerous sports, both as a Lancer and within the community, including tennis, badminton, golf and, her favourite, basketball. Both in her studies and on the court, she has learned the importance of perseverance, hard work, dedication and leadership.
She balances her school life with family and friends. She is devoted to her faith and understands the power and importance of God in her life. She plans to honour her fellow peers in the role of Catholic Student Trustee, while living through God’s wisdom and modeling Christ-like love.
Annabelle Rayson
Annabelle is a determined and effervescent Grade 11 student, who is passionate about problem-solving, helping people and improving the world around her. She finds great joy in working on initiatives to create a more just society and support vulnerable members of the local and global communities. She is a member of the Irish Miracle and Cyclone Aid planning committees and is founder of the school’s Social Justice Club, where she works to create opportunities for the
St. Patrick’s community to answer God’s call for us to love one another and support the less fortunate. In addition, she has been Chair of the Sarnia Shoebox Project for four years.
She is also an annual participant in the Lambton County Science Fair, focusing on projects for environmental protection and sustainability, receiving two medals at the Canada-Wide Science Fair. She is a member of the local MP’s Non-Partisan Youth Advisory Board and the Ontario Youth Environmental Council. Annabelle also loves music and plays violin, viola, ukulele and saxophone and is a member of the school’s Concert Band. Other extracurriculars include Math Club, Debate Team, LINK Crew and senior Reach For the Top Team.
The Board of Trustees affirmed the elections of both Samantha Lozon and Annabelle Rayson at the Tuesday, March 29, 2022 Regular Board Meeting and appointed them to serve as Catholic student trustees for the term which runs from August 2022 to June 2023.
