Georges P. Vanier Students Collect Shoes for CFFC-CK in Lenten Project

Students from Georges P. Vanier Catholic School have collected more than 375 pairs of shoes for Canadian Food For Children – Chatham-Kent (CFFC-CK) in a school-wide Lenten service project.

The boxes of donated items were collected by CFFC-CK on Thursday, April 14 and will be delivered to the central warehouse in Mississauga.

“This is an amazing donation,” says Cindy Waddick, CFFC-CK representative.  “These shoes will be on people’s feet within a few short months.”

CFFC ships donated items to 20 countries in central South America and Africa.  Officials explained that shoes are much-needed items, not only for comfort but also to protect people from parasites.

“This is a fitting gift from students, because shoes are really important to help make it possible for children in the receiving countries to go to school,” says Mrs. Waddick.

The students also collected boxes of clothing, toys and candy, which was also donated to CFFC-CK.
