Annabelle Rayson, a Grade 11 student at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School, has received the Best Project Discovery Award at the Canada-wide Science Fair, which was held virtually last week. Annabelle’s work was singled out along with six others, from among more than 370 entries from young scientists, engineers and innovators. She received the honours for her project Plankton Wars: An Innovative Analysis of Daphnia Genotype Biomanipulation for Algae Bloom Prevention.
Details of the project can be found on the Youth Science Canada (YSC) website.
In 2021, Anabelle won an intermediate silver award for her project Munching Madness: An Innovative Analysis of Zooplankton Biomanipulation for Algae Bloom Prevention.
“I want to congratulate Annabelle on this well-deserved recognition,” says Scott Johnson, Director of Education. “Her high regard for the environment is evident in the science research projects she has pursued during these past two years. Well done, Annabelle!”
Annabelle is one of two student trustees, who have been appointed by the Board to serve during the 2022-2023 school year. The term begins in August 2022.
