Flags at all schools and at the Catholic Education Centre are lowered to half mast following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Buckingham Palace announced the Queen’s death earlier today at Balmoral Castle, her Scottish estate. The statement said the Queen died peacefully with her family by her side.
“Throughout her long reign the Queen has devoted her life to the service of her peoples, both in the United Kingdom and throughout the Commonwealth,” says Scott Johnson, Director of Education. “Our prayers go out to His Majesty the King and to the entire Royal Family.”
The Queen is the longest reigning monarch in British history, having celebrated 70 years on the throne earlier this year.
Flags at all schools and the CEC will remain at half mast until the end of the day Tuesday, September 20, 2022, which is the day of the Ontario Commemorative Service for the Late Queen.
