St. Clair Catholic Action News Team Reports on Ground Blessing Ceremonies at New Building Sites

St. Clair Catholic’s Action News team has released its first report, documenting the Ground Blessing Ceremonies that were held at the Board’s new building sites in Chatham and Sarnia.

“I want to say a special word of thanks to our student Action News Team, for their work to capture the historic ground blessing ceremonies that were held at the sites of the new Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School in Sarnia and the South Chatham Catholic elementary school,” says Scott Johnson, Director of Education.  “Outstanding work!”

The video report, which was presented to the Board of Trustees at tonight’s Regular Board Meeting, will now be posted to the website, along with other updates, as the work at the sites progresses.

“This is an exciting project that will not only keep our communities informed about the work at these sites, but will also provide a permanent historical record of these projects,” says Mr. Johnson.

In Chatham, the Ontario government is providing $19,538,014 to build a new 564-pupil place elementary school, which includes $2,083,114 in funding for a three-room child care centre.  Additional capital funds from the Ministry of Education in the amount of $1,048,675 for Full Day Kindergarten and a further $2,007,440 in Board funds, are also included.

The new Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School in Sarnia is an investment by the Ontario government of $21,833,171 for a new 659-pupil place elementary school, with $4,589,154 in funding for a five-room child care centre.  Also included in the funding is a $200,000 donation from the Hogan Family, to support an expanded 900 square foot community room in the new school.

All Action News Team videos will be posted on both the Gregory A. Hogan and South Chatham Catholic Elementary School new build pages of the Board website.
