As part of Catholic Education Week’s #onetogether theme, the St. Ursula Catholic School focused on acts of service for the community.
Grade 1 and 2 students made cards with words of thanks and appreciation for service to the community, which were forwarded to members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service and to other ‘community helpers,’ such as firefighters and librarians.
The gesture prompted a social media post from CK Police, thanking the students for “brightening our day and reminding us why we do what we do.”
Intermediate students collected non-perishable food and personal hygiene items, which were donated to local food banks, during Catholic Education Week. They also helped to beautify the local neighbourhood, by picking up litter along adjacent streets and Mud Creek.
