Students at Good Shepherd and St. Elizabeth Catholic schools joined with members of the Bkejwanong Territory this week, as they celebrated the planting of a variety of traditional medicines in their school gardens, including tobacco, sage, cedar and sweetgrass.
Cedric, Sandra and Leigh Ann Isaac also talked about the many health benefits of other common plants, including dandelions and strawberries.
After planting the gardens, the Isaac family led the staff and students in celebrations of prayer and song, through music and dancing, in gratitude for the gifts of the earth.
