The elementary schools of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board recently held system-wide track events in both Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.
In Chatham, approximately 500 athletes from 15 schools, along with parents, relatives, volunteers and staff, participated at the event held at Ursuline College. The day began with a 50 meter exceptionalities race and ended with the open relay for Grades 6 to 8 students.
“Our student athletes participated to the best of their abilities and left everyone very proud,” says Susan Galbraith, a teacher at St. Angela Merici Catholic School, and convenor of the event for Chatham-Kent schools.
In Sarnia-Lambton, 800 athletes participated from 12 schools, including St. Fancois Xavier and St. Thomas Aquinas. The event was hosted at the Lambton Central Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Petrolia.
“Special thanks to the St. Clair Catholic teachers, custodians, EAs, ECEs, CYW staff and parents, who were there to support this great event,” says Stephanie Orrange, Principal of St. Anne Catholic School, Sarnia and event convenor. “And of course, thanks to our tremendous student athletes showed endurance and sportsmanship throughout the day.”
