Grade 4 to 8 students at the Wallaceburg and Port Lambton Catholic elementary schools attended a presentation by youth speaker and best-selling author Sam Demma, hosted by Holy Family Catholic School.
Sam shared his message about well-being, kindness and compassion for others and for ourselves. He told the students that we all carry a backpack filled with challenges and circumstances; and although we know what’s in our own backpack, we never know what others are carrying around. Students learned about the importance of words and actions, and how they impact others. Through small consistent gestures, like kindness and respect, we can use the gifts that God has given us to make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of others.
“As a school community, we will use what Sam taught us to lead us throughout this school year, as we continue to work together to make a difference in the lives of each other,” says Colleen Cogghe, Principal of Holy Family Catholic School.
Sam Demma’s visit was made possible thanks to the generous support of a number of Wallaceburg area businesses.
