Lancers Scare Hunger Set to Hit the Streets on Halloween Evening

Student and staff volunteers from Ursuline College are set to hit the streets again this year, in aid of Chatham Outreach for Hunger.

“This is a tremendous effort each year to support people in our community, who need our help,” says Lisa Harnarine, Principal of Ursuline College.

About 250 volunteers will cover 50 routes through neighbourhoods across the city and in the surrounding areas, to collect canned goods and non-perishable food items.  The students will be out from 4:30 p.m. until about 8:00 p.m. on October 31st.

Anyone who will not be at home, but who wishes to contribute, can leave a donation on the front porch, with a note that says ‘UCC’ or ‘donation’ so that the students know they can collect it.

Each year, the Lancers Scare Hunger event helps Chatham Outreach for Hunger to stock up its shelves for the coming Christmas season, which is always one of the food bank’s busiest times of the year.
