Grade 1 Students at St. Peter Canisius Collect 633 Socks for Local Charities

The month of ‘Socktober’ has wrapped up at St. Peter Canisius Catholic School in Watford.  This year, Josie Campbell’s Grade 1 class gathered up a grand total of 633 pairs of socks.  The socks will be donated to a number of charities throughout Lambton County, including the Salvation Army, the Women’s Interval Home of Sarnia-Lambton, River City Vineyard, Ryan’s House, the Fresh Start Project, Circles and the Petrolia Food Bank.

“Mrs. Campbell’s class has enthusiastically embraced their baptismal call to be the Hands and Feet of Christ, as they support people in need through this fun and worthwhile initiative,” says Erin Moffat, Principal of St. Peter Canisius Catholic School.

There was also an important learning component to the activity, as students counted and graphed the socks while they were being collected.

“The spirit of community giving is alive and well at St. Peter Canisius,” says Mrs. Moffat.
