Flags at the Catholic Education Centre and at all St. Clair Catholic schools are lowered to half-mast on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in recognition of Indigenous Veterans Day.

As Remembrance Day falls on Saturday this year, the flags will remain at half-mast for the remainder of the week and through the weekend until Monday morning, November 13, 2023.

“Each year in our school communities and at the CEC, we pause to honour and reflect upon the sacrifices of the brave men and women from Canada’s Armed Forces, including Indigenous veterans, who have served the cause of freedom in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping missions around the world,” says Scott Johnson, Director of Education.  “We give thanks to God for their service to our country and their commitment to world peace, as we pray for His blessings of comfort for their families.”

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
