Advent Message from the Director of Education

Dear Families, Staff, Parishes and Community Partners,

It seems hard to believe that Advent is upon us already.  Yet, here we are, as we prepare for another Christmas season with all of the busyness and excitement that goes with it.  It is a special time of year – a time of rush and bustle; of sparkling lights and glittering packages; of merriment and cheer.  But Christmas is also the season when we celebrate the One gift that is greater than all of these – Jesus Christ.

So, before we get caught up in the festivities of the season, let’s prepare our hearts to celebrate the true gifts of Advent: hope, peace, joy and love.  Each year at Christmas, the world marks the birth more than 2,000 years ago of a tiny Baby in a Bethlehem stable.  That’s when light came to dispel the darkness – Emmanuel, Christ our Saviour, the Light of the world.

That light lives within each of us, through Christ.  I am reminded of this every day, through the many acts of kindness and charity that I see in our Catholic school communities.  Staff, students and families, coming together in countless ways through social justice projects, to support those who need our help, both in our communities and around the world.  On behalf of our entire Board, thank you!

To our students and staff, our parents and families, our parishes and our community partners, may the blessings of this Advent season be especially meaningful for you and your family; and may hope, peace, joy and love fill your hearts as we celebrate the birth of the King.

God bless,
Scott Johnson
