Nearby Fire Results in Temporary Shelter in Place at Two Catholic Schools

Both St. Patrick’s Catholic High School and St. Anne Catholic School on The Rapids Parkway were briefly placed in Shelter in Place this afternoon.

The Shelter in Place was called by Sarnia Police as a precaution, due to a fire up the street at the construction site of the new Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School.  The fire was confined to a spray foam truck and does not appear to have affected the building.  There are no injuries.

As a precaution, air intakes at both schools were also closed off.

A Shelter in Place is called when there is an emergency in the vicinity of the school building, which is not related to the school.  Students are kept inside and the school continues on with its normal routines of the day.

The Shelter in Place at both schools was lifted at 1:31 p.m.
