ELL students (English language learners) at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School recently headed to the Progressive Auto Sales Arena for a lesson in skating.

“Most of our ELL students are from countries in southern climates, so they’ve never skated,” says Heather Hagan, ELL Teacher at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School.  “We thought this would be a fun way to introduce a piece of Canadian culture and practise language skills outside of school!”

The event was organized by the coach of the St. Patrick’s girls hockey team.  Members of the team helped teach the newcomer students how to skate.  It was a fun day for everyone!
