UCC Celebrates Black History Month

On February 28, 2024, Ursuline College Chatham hosted an inaugural Black History Month panel discussion, which was attended by students.  The event coincided with the celebration of Kindness Week.

The panel featured four distinguished individuals from diverse backgrounds, who contributed to a rich and insightful discussion. Among the panelists were Craig Shreve, an esteemed author from North Buxton; Lindsey Travis, a practicing Psychotherapist with Future Black Female; Oluwatosin Akinbinu, a legal expert with extensive experience in mediation and advocacy; and Kyle Wright, Acting Sergeant of Community Mobilization for the Chatham-Kent Police Service, who was born and raised in Chatham.

The event was organized and hosted by staff and students of the UCC United Alliance, to highlight the school’s commitment to fostering inclusive discussions and celebrate the contributions of Black individuals to our school and community throughout history.
