New Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School Opens to Staff and Students!

The new Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School opened to staff and students on Monday, March 18, 2024!

It was an extremely busy week throughout March break, as staff from the school, Facility Services and the Catholic Education Centre, worked together to get furniture, equipment and technology set up and ready to go for the first day of classes.

“It was awesome to see everything come together in this beautiful new facility,” says Derek Morrison, Principal of Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School.  “Our students and families were amazed when they walked through the doors!”

The new Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School in Sarnia is the result of an investment of $24,243,249 from the Government of Ontario and includes a new 659-pupil place elementary school, with $3,223,821 in provincial funding for a five-room child care centre.  Also included in the funding is a $200,000 donation from the Hogan Family, to support an expanded 900 square foot community room in the new school.

In the meantime, in Chatham, work continues on St. Clair Catholic’s other new school build.  St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School is in the final stages of construction.  The project is expected to wrap up later this spring.  Board staff will have the summer to complete the move-in and set-up of furniture, equipment and technology.

The school will open to students and staff in September 2024.

Official opening and blessing ceremonies for both schools will be held in October 2024.
