Winner of Bus Driver Appreciation Award Continues to Go the Extra Mile

Beginning in November of 2023, St. Clair Catholic community members were invited by CKXS FM in Wallaceburg, CLASS Shared School Services, and Progressive Ford to celebrate their local school bus drivers by nominating them for Bus Driver of the Week as part of the ‘Hail to Bus Drivers’ contest. With over 300 entries received, there was no shortage of drivers deserving recognition. Twelve nominated drivers were selected and announced each Friday, placing them in contention for the contest’s grand prize: eight tickets to a luxury box at a Sarnia Sting game.

Michelle Higgins, a dedicated driver for Badder Bus Lines in Port Lambton and Wallaceburg, was selected as the grand prize winner. Renowned not only for her exceptional driving skills but also for her outstanding care and support for families and children on her routes, Ms. Higgins truly stood out as someone who goes the extra mile.

Remarkably, Ms. Higgins decided to pay her prize forward, generously donating her grand prize package to the family of a child from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Port Lambton.

“Michelle’s act of kindness is yet another example of the leadership, care, and community spirit for which she was nominated and recognized,” says Scott Johnson, Director of Education.

The recipient family had the pleasure of cheering on the Sarnia Sting from their luxury box at a game last month, thanks to Ms. Higgins’ generosity.
