In an inspiring showcase of musical talent, the students of St. Angela Merici School were honoured to be featured in the prestigious Music Monday National Spotlight Concert. The event, organized by The Coalition for Music Education Canada, celebrated 20 years of Music Mondays, and included performances from students and renowned musicians across the country.
The event on May 6 highlighted the exceptional talents of the young musicians, with a special performance of “Máhsi ts’enįwę” in Dene Kede by St. Angela Merici’s choir. This choir, affectionately known as “The Sammies,” consists of over 100 students who have dedicated themselves to sharing this beautiful piece of cultural heritage.
The Music Monday Spotlight Celebration Concert not only featured our students but also included special messages and performances from notable Canadian artists such as Commander Chris Hadfield, Max Kerman of Arkells, Kevin Hearn of The Barenaked Ladies, and Danielle McTaggart of Dear Rouge. The concert, which marks two decades of celebrating music in education, is a testament to the power of music in uniting communities and fostering a sense of shared identity.
The concert is available for viewing online, featuring the St. Angela Merici students’ performance at the 33:30 mark in the video linked below.
