On September 3rd, the atmosphere at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Chatham was filled with excitement and anticipation as teachers and staff eagerly welcomed students back for the first day of school. Hundreds of students, along with their parents/guardians, arrived early in the morning and were warmly greeted by student leaders, who escorted them to their assigned grades to meet their classmates and teachers.
In preparation for the day, families had received emails from their children’s teachers over the long weekend, providing details about what to expect and which coloured signs to look for in the yard that corresponded to their assigned grade. This thoughtful planning eased anxieties and helped create an organized start to the new school year, ensuring that both students and parents felt confident and ready.
School Principal Sara Vadovic shared her enthusiasm for the new beginning, saying, “It’s wonderful to see our new school community come together as part of the Wolf Pack. We’re thrilled to welcome our students and families and look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and collaboration.”
Superintendent Lisa Demers also expressed her excitement about the day, noting, “This is a momentous occasion as our students embark on building a new school community. The energy and enthusiasm from our students, families, and staff are truly inspiring, and I’m confident that together, we’ll create a vibrant and supportive environment for everyone.”
As far as first days go, St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School’s was a resounding success. The enthusiasm and smiles shared by students, parents, and staff reflected a day that was not only well-organized but also deeply enjoyed, laying a strong foundation for a vibrant and successful school year ahead.
