On September 10, 2024, the St. Clair Catholic School Board trustees, joined by Director of Education Scott Johnson and school principal Sara Vadovic enjoyed an after-hours tour of the newly opened St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. This event offered trustees a firsthand look at St. Clair Catholic’s vibrant new learning environment.
The school, already brimming with student belongings, artwork, and meticulously arranged classrooms, showcased the dedication of both teachers and staff who worked tirelessly to prepare for the school’s opening, and students who have thrived since the school opened two weeks ago. The evening was a momentous occasion, allowing trustees to see the fruition of years of planning and discussions.
Director of Education Scott Johnson expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Celebrating the opening of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School has been a long-awaited milestone for our board. It was a privilege to walk our trustees through the school and witness their excitement as they experienced the spaces that are already filled with our students’ energy and potential.”
Chair of the Board, John Van Heck, reflected on the journey, stating, “What an awesome school. We’ve been working on this since 2017 and, despite the bumps in the road, it is so worth the wait. I think the students of Chatham deserve a school like this, and bringing so many of our students together at this one great school is tremendous for the city.”
Principal Sara Vadovic and the St. Teresa of Calcutta team look forward to welcoming parents, guardians, and the community at their inaugural open house on Tuesday, September 17th, from 4-6pm. This event will offer an opportunity for the community to explore the new school while connecting with teachers, staff, and school community groups.
