Faith and Unity Mark the Start of the School Year at Christ the King Catholic School

On September 12, 2024, Christ the King Catholic School in Wallaceburg welcomed Father Darius for a special visit with staff and students. The visit began with a school-wide assembly, where Principal Angèle Monette greeted the students in French and introduced Father Darius to the community.

During the assembly, Father Darius blessed the gathered group with Holy Water, explaining to the students that this act is a reminder of their baptism, a moment when they became children of God. He encouraged the school community to receive God’s love into their hearts as they began a new school year.

The assembly continued with the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, after which Father Darius extended his blessing to all that the students and staff do, both inside and outside of school. Students and staff then offered each other the sign of Christ’s peace, fostering a sense of unity and shared faith.

Following the assembly, Father Darius toured the school, taking time to bless every classroom. During his visit, he engaged with students, answering their questions about the act of blessing and discussing its significance.

Superintendent of Education, Michelle Sawa, who was also in attendance, shared her thoughts on the importance of this special blessing. “The blessing of our school community is a powerful way to begin the school year, as it reinforces the sense of togetherness and faith that guides us in everything we do,” said Michelle. “It’s a beautiful reminder that we are all connected in God’s love as we move forward into a new academic year.”

Father Darius’ visit provided Christ the King Catholic School with a meaningful and faith-filled start to the year, fostering spiritual growth and community connection.
