St. Michael’s Catholic School in Ridgetown welcomed an incredible turnout for its “Meet the Camp Staff” night on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, with 270 excited attendees joining the festivities. Families arrived between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., greeted with “The Cardinal Trail Map,” which guided them through seven fun-filled stations.
The evening featured a range of activities, beginning with the Fireside Family Photobooth, where staff photographers captured special moments. Families also visited classrooms to meet teachers and learn “S’MORE” about what their children would be doing throughout the school year. Outdoors, the Campfire Cookout provided free hot dogs, popcorn, and bottled water, generously donated and prepared by the Knights of Columbus. Children and parents alike enjoyed meeting Park Ranger, Constable Koldyk, and joining in a campfire sing-along led by EarlyON partner, Mrs. Munroe.
The night also focused on wellness, with families meeting the school’s Camp Wellness Team, featuring Child and Youth Worker, Mrs. Munroe, and Social Worker, Mrs. Taylor. The Kenesserie Camp team added to the fun with outdoor games like 9 square, archery, slingshots, and bracelet making. As the evening wrapped up, families turned in their completed trail maps for a treat and a chance to win a family prize.
Principal Kelly VanBoxtel expressed her delight over the event’s success, sharing, “Seeing our students and their families come together in such a joyful and interactive way was heartwarming. The energy was contagious, and it reminded us all how important these connections are in building a strong school community. We are truly blessed by the support of our staff, volunteers, and community partners who made this night so special for everyone.”
The event highlighted St. Michael’s dedication to fostering meaningful relationships with its students, families, and the broader community, setting the tone for a successful school year ahead.
