The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has unveiled its 2024-2025 Board Pastoral Plan, centered around the inspiring theme of “Pilgrims of Hope.” Announced at the September 17 Board Meeting, this theme will guide the community through the upcoming school year, inviting reflection on the profound meaning of hope in both faith and daily life.

The “Pilgrims of Hope” theme is designed to encourage the community to embrace hope as a central principle, drawing on the example set by Jesus Christ. According to Scripture, hope is embodied through the actions of those who follow Christ’s teachings, bringing hope, peace, and strengthened faith to their communities. This theme will serve as a beacon for the Board’s collective journey, fostering a deeper connection to faith and a heightened sense of unity.

The year-long celebration of Catholic Education will be framed by this theme, inviting all to embark on a shared pilgrimage. Being a pilgrim of hope signifies an ongoing journey in life, where the community is called to build relationships of love, peace, and solidarity with one another.

The upcoming Jubilee Year, which begins on Christmas Eve 2024 and continues until January 6, 2026, as proclaimed by Pope Francis, adds a special dimension to this year’s theme. This Jubilee Year emphasizes placing Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church at the heart of the pilgrimage, offering a unique opportunity for spiritual renewal.

Michelle Sawa, Superintendent of Education, underscored the significance of this theme: “The ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ theme is instrumental in guiding faith formation across our school communities. It provides a structured approach to spiritual development and supports our shared journey of faith throughout the year.”

Jon Van Heck, Chair of the Board, also emphasized the importance of this theme: “Maintaining faith and Catholic values at the core of our activities is crucial. The ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ theme is an excellent guiding light for our students, staff, and families. It will help navigate the school year with a hopeful and faith-driven perspective.”

The 2024-2025 Pastoral Plan, anchored in the theme of hope, aims to guide the St. Clair Catholic community through a year of meaningful growth, reflection, and adherence to shared values, celebrating the journey as pilgrims of hope.
