On September 27, 2024, Monsignor Uyen Catholic School participated in a memorable Terry Fox experience that united the entire school community in the fight against cancer. Students learned about Terry Fox’s inspirational journey and the impact of his Marathon of Hope campaign, which has motivated millions of Canadians to support cancer research.
Guided by Grade 8 student leaders, all students took part in a Terry Fox Run around the schoolyard. The goal was to raise $2,100 for the Terry Fox Foundation, but the community’s enthusiasm surpassed expectations, with the school raising over $2,600.
Principal Americo Todino expressed his pride in the event, stating, “It was a fun and meaningful day for our students. We came together not just to run, but to honor Terry Fox’s legacy and support a cause that affects so many families. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to finding a cure for cancer.”
Monsignor Uyen Catholic School’s commitment to the Terry Fox Foundation exemplifies the spirit of compassion and community service, making a significant contribution to the ongoing battle against cancer.
