On October 16, St. Clair Catholic proudly celebrated the opening and blessing of its two newest schools: St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Chatham and Gregory A Hogan Catholic School in Sarnia. These momentous ceremonies, led by Bishop Ronald Fabbro, marked a significant milestone for the Board as it continues to grow and provide state-of-the-art facilities for its students.
Students, staff, community partners, local leaders, and dignitaries—including MPP Bob Bailey and MPP Trevor Jones—gathered in each school’s gymnasium for a special Mass. Choirs from the schools filled the space with beautiful music, while selected students read from scripture and offered prayers of intention. Bishop Fabbro’s blessing bestowed a spiritual significance on the day, uniting the communities in faith and celebration.

“These new schools represent a bright future for our students and our communities,” said Scott Johnson, Director of Education. “They are more than just buildings; they are places of learning, growth, and belonging. We are excited for the opportunities they will provide for generations of students to come.”
For Gregory A Hogan Catholic School, the celebration follows the school’s move to its new location in March 2024. At St. Teresa of Calcutta, students from the recently closed Georges P. Vanier and St. Ursula Catholic Schools were welcomed into the new facility at the beginning of the school year. Both schools offer modern learning environments designed to support student success and well-being.

Board Chair John Van Heck reflected on the significance of the day, saying, “It is truly fitting to open and bless these schools under the spiritual guidance of Bishop Fabbro. The amazing new facilities will serve our children and families for years to come, and we couldn’t be more proud of the vibrant, faith-filled communities they will nurture.”
The opening and blessing ceremonies highlighted the growth and vision of St. Clair Catholic, affirming its commitment to providing exceptional learning environments rooted in faith and community.
