Holy Rosary Catholic School Unites in Prayer for the Month of the Rosary

In celebration of October as the Month of the Rosary, the students and staff of Holy Rosary Catholic School in Wyoming gathered for a powerful Living Rosary Prayer Service on Wednesday, October 23. The outdoor service was a moment for the entire school community to honour the rosary and the namesake of their school through prayer, reflection, and creativity.

Leading up to the service, students participated in a rosary-building project, guided by a volunteer from the Catholic Women’s League, where they were able to build their own rosaries and learn about the significance of each bead and prayer. School staff then used a larger-than-life rosary to help facilitate the prayer service, with pool noodles as beads and rope as the chain. These activities were a creative exercise and a hands-on way for students to deepen their understanding of the rosary’s significance in their faith.

During the Living Rosary service, students gathered around the enormous rosary outdoors on a crisp, sunny autumn day. Older students led the prayers and mysteries of the rosary, while younger students formed a living perimeter, symbolizing unity in faith. Over the sound of a gentle breeze and the rustle of papers, voices rose in unison, creating a beautiful moment of reflection.

“The rosary is such a powerful symbol in our faith, guiding us through prayer,” said Jessica Verstraeten, principal of Holy Rosary Catholic School. “Gathering together as a school community for the Living Rosary reminds us that, like the beads, we are connected to one another through our faith.”

“This initiative beautifully showcases the leadership and dedication of our students,” said Michelle Sawa, Superintendent of Education. “It’s inspiring to see the Holy Rosary school community come together to embrace their faith in such a meaningful way.”

The Living Rosary at Holy Rosary Catholic School served as both a tribute to the Month of the Rosary and a unifying experience, bringing the school together in prayerful reflection and celebration of their Catholic identity.
