Holy Family is celebrating a major victory in the Ontario Provincial Rocket League Esports Fall Championship, where two of its teams dominated the Middle School division. “Team Parrot”—comprising Grade 8 students Zavier R, Chase F, and Cooper F—claimed first place with an exciting win over the Coyotes Blanc from Mille-Îles in Kingston. This victory secures them a spot at the National Scholastic Championship on November 30. Joining them at Nationals is the “N!NJA” team, who finished in third place. The “N!NJA” squad includes Isaiah D (Grade 5), Eli D (Grade 7), and Austin F (Grade 8).
The championship, held on Saturday, November 2, wrapped up a competitive five-week season with 41 teams from across Ontario. Holy Family entered four teams, three of which finished in the top five—taking first, third, and fourth places—out of 15 school boards across the province.
The tournament featured Rocket League, a fast-paced, team-based game that combines soccer and vehicular action. After competing online, all four Holy Family teams faced off in the provincial finals from the school’s esports lab. With both “Team Parrot” and “N!NJA” advancing to Nationals, Holy Family’s esports program continues to thrive, with additional tournaments on the horizon, including Fortnite on November 16 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate starting November 20.
“We’re incredibly proud of these students,” said Dan Rolo, teacher and esports coach at Holy Family. “Their teamwork, skill, and determination were key to their success. Having two teams finish in the top three speaks to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved. We’re excited to represent Ontario at Nationals!”
Congratulations to all Holy Family’s Rocket League players for their outstanding achievements, and best of luck at Nationals!
