On October 3rd, the St. Clair Catholic elementary cross-country meet took place at Thames Grove Conservation Area in Chatham, continuing a beloved fall tradition within the KCSAC athletic calendar. This year’s meet was particularly exciting, with a record-breaking 571 runners participating, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for cross-country running among elementary athletes.
This year marked a special milestone as the Wolves from St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School competed in their first KCSAC event since the school’s opening just five weeks before the meet. Students in grades 3 to 8 from across St. Clair Catholic’s southern elementary schools, as well as participants from the French Catholic School Board, took part in the event.
Medals were awarded to the top 8 finishers in each grade, while team pennants were given to the schools with the highest combined scores from their top 4 runners. The convenors of the event, Nicole Trinca, Brendan Spence, Dennis Segeren, and Matt Serruys, led the meet, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, including many retired KCSAC members whose ongoing generosity makes such large-scale events possible.
The event was a resounding success, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of our young athletes and reinforcing the community spirit of cross-country running within the district.
