On November 11, the Christ the King school community gathered for a moving Remembrance Day assembly, bringing together students, staff, and families to honour the sacrifices made by those who served, and continue to serve, for our freedom. Led by Mme Clancy’s class, the assembly featured thoughtful prayers, poems, and songs that reminded everyone of the values of peace, courage, and gratitude.
Principal Angèle Monette expressed pride in the students’ respect and engagement: “We are incredibly proud of our students’ respectful participation and the way they honoured the memories of our veterans. We appreciate all members of our community, including parents and partners, for joining us. Let us continue to keep those who have served, and those who continue to serve, in our hearts and prayers. Lest we forget.”
Michelle Sawa, Superintendent of Education, added, “Remembrance Day is a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the importance of learning from history. It is inspiring to see our students embrace these values and honour the past together as a school community.”
Through this meaningful gathering, Christ the King renewed its commitment to learning from the past and fostering a deeper understanding of peace, sacrifice, and gratitude among students. This Remembrance Day assembly serves as an ongoing lesson in honouring our history and building a more compassionate future.
