In recognition of Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week, St. Clair will celebrate “Kindness Week” from November 18 to 22. This initiative, aligned with the Ministry of Education’s call for safe, accepting, and caring school environments, promotes kindness as a foundation for positive mental well-being.
Throughout the week, students and staff will engage in daily activities designed by the Board’s Student Support and Wellbeing Team, which include reflective exercises, creative projects, and community-building events. Highlights include personal reflections on kindness, a class contest to create kindness-themed poetry, and a “Kindness Jar” to capture daily acts of kindness. Schools are also encouraged to participate in “Odd Sock Day,” a fun way to celebrate diversity and individuality.
“Kindness lies at the heart of our Catholic values. When we act with kindness, we build the strong, supportive communities that allow every individual to feel valued and accepted,” said Scott Johnson, Director of Education. “I am proud of the efforts our schools put into making kindness a daily commitment.”
This week’s activities will empower students to understand and appreciate the impact of kindness on their own and others’ well-being. Schools are encouraged to share their experiences and will be creating Bullying Awareness and Prevention Plans to support continuous efforts in nurturing safe, inclusive environments across the district.
