UCC Lancers Unite to Support Ronald McDonald House in Honour of Student Athlete

UCC has demonstrated the power of community and compassion, rallying together to support Ronald McDonald House – Southwestern Ontario in honour of student athlete Luke Chickowski. Luke, recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, inspired the UCC Physical Education department to lead a fundraising initiative to help families navigating similar medical challenges.

The department designed Luke Strong t-shirts in orange, the colour symbolizing Leukemia awareness. The initiative quickly gained momentum, with students, staff, and the local community contributing through purchases and donations. Together, the Lancer community raised an impressive $5,000, which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House in London to support families facing medical crises.

“This initiative exemplifies the spirit of UCC—coming together to support one of our own and extend that care to others in need,” said Lisa Harnarine, Principal of UCC. “It’s a testament to the strength and compassion of our Lancer community.”

The Lancers’ efforts are a powerful reminder of the impact of collective generosity and kindness. Lancer Loud, Lancer Proud!
