Holiday Cheer at St. Matthew: A Festive Community Feast

The Christmas lunch at St. Matthew, Sarnia that took place during the last week of school was a heartwarming celebration of community and togetherness. Thanks to the tireless efforts of numerous parent volunteers, over 800 grilled cheese sandwiches were prepared, delicious soup was served, and festive treats were shared with students and staff. Joy and laughter filled the air as everyone gathered for this special meal.

Adding to the excitement, Santa made a surprise visit, bringing smiles to children and adults alike. Generous contributions from Giant Tiger and John’s Restaurant ensured the meal was truly memorable, reflecting the spirit of giving and collaboration that defines the St. Matthew, Sarnia community.

The celebration began with a prayer led by priests from the Sarnia Bluewater Roman Catholic Family of Parishes, who joined in acknowledging the blessings of the season. Throughout the event, the gym was filled with cheerful chatter and holiday music, creating an atmosphere of warmth and belonging.

“It was awesome to take a moment and observe students, staff, and family members enjoying themselves. Coupled with our Christmas concerts the day before, this is a proud time to be a part of the St. Matthew School community,” shared Principal Marc Tremblay.

This joyful occasion embodied the true meaning of Christmas, bringing people together in gratitude and celebration.
