On March 4, students and staff across St. Clair Catholic took part in Global Unplug Day, stepping away from screens to embrace mindfulness, connection, and well-being. Schools engaged in activities like yoga, creative arts, and outdoor play, exploring positive ways to disconnect.
At Sacred Heart in Sarnia, students gathered for a school-wide session of yoga, art, and reflection. “This was a fantastic chance for our students to come together and appreciate the benefits of unplugging,” said Principal Tina Jarvis.

Chris Preece, Manager of Mental Health Services, emphasized the importance of stepping away from screens. “Taking intentional breaks nurtures self-awareness and supports mental well-being. By encouraging students to adopt positive coping strategies, we help them build long-term balance and resilience.”
At St. Teresa of Calcutta, students embraced teamwork through group activities and dancing games, highlighting the joy of movement and connection. Their energy and creativity showcased the power of unplugging as a community.

As an added incentive, Christ the King, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and Sacred Heart in Sarnia won a dance party for their enthusiastic participation and photo submissions.
Through surveys, participants reflected on their experience, reinforcing the simple truth—sometimes, the best way to recharge is to power down.
