Mind, Body, Spirit—and Smiles: Holy Family’s Wellness Night a Success

Holy Family Catholic School was filled with laughter, learning, and connection on Thursday, April 10th, as students proudly welcomed their loved ones to the school’s second annual Family Wellness Night. From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., the entire school transformed into a vibrant celebration of wellness, with more than a dozen interactive stations focused on the mind, body, and spirit.

Families sampled overnight oats and healthy snacks, tried DrumFit in the gym, created journals, explored sleep tips and social-emotional learning strategies, and more. Christian Meditation and a “Give Your Worries to God” activity offered moments of quiet reflection and reminded families that faith is at the centre of well-being. Each stop provided a hands-on experience designed to support student wellness and spark meaningful conversations at home. Students were thrilled to share their classrooms and introduce their families to the teachers and staff who guide them each day.

“The heart of this school is its people,” said Principal Colleen Cogghe. “To see our students beaming as they shared their classrooms, their teachers, and their faith with their families—it was incredible. Events like this remind us how strong and connected our Holy Family community truly is. We love coming together to create these experiences for our students.”

Upon arrival, families received a red wellness swag bag and a passport to help guide them through the event. As they visited each station, students filled their bags with meaningful takeaways—recipe cards, journals, silly putty, and other wellness-themed items—designed to continue the learning and reflection at home. Every student in attendance was automatically entered into a draw to win an electric scooter!

The evening was made possible thanks to the support of several community partners, including CK Public Health, the CK Public Library, and an Indigenous partner who helped enrich the experience with a diversity of wellness practices and resources.

Director of Education Lisa Demers praised the school community for the warmth and care woven into the evening. “You could feel the heart behind every detail,” she said. “Holy Family is such a special place, where students are known and supported in every way. The dedication of the staff, and the love they have for this community, truly shines through.”

With another successful event behind them, the Holy Family team is already dreaming up ways to make next year’s Family Wellness Night even more memorable.
